Cottage Garden Plants

Our cottage garden list is built to highlight native species that are generally shorter and tend to behave well in more formal plantings. This list is also great for sunnier (to part-shade) sites with a wild look. How “tidy” your garden appears all depends on how much work you want to put into maintenance. The ecological benefit is still there regardless of your aesthetic preference 🌿

Woodland Garden Plants

If you have mature trees in your yard, many plants suited to our local woodlands will do well with the shade. There is way more to shade gardens than hostas!

Black Walnut (Juglone) Tolerant Plants

Many of our native woodland species are suited to growing under or near walnut trees. Download our non-exhaustive list of species that have shown to be tolerant of juglone, the chemical put out by black walnut trees.
